It seems that the Moto X4 also has this app that will let you use the OEM security tool to recover lost data
It's called
Moto X4 Owner's Guide
Please note that it's in beta as of November 2017 but it should be easy to install.
That is the only solution I know at this point to get the data back on the phone.
